Hurricane Harvey Support

Mental Health Peer Support

After a natural disaster like a flood or hurricane, we understand that it can often feel very overwhelming and you wonder where you should start.

Well-meaning friends, neighbors, and family members have helped to take care of the basics including shelter, clothing and food but when it comes to your mental health no one knows what to do.  That is where re:MIND can help.

It is important to remember that many people have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey in a variety of ways to varying degrees.  If you experienced loss of property, flooding, evacuation, injury, illness, disrupted routine, increased stress, anxiety or fear as a result of Hurricane Harvey then you might benefit from some additional emotional support.

We invite you to join us at a re:MIND support group if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Loss of appetite or increased appetite
  • Prolonged sadness or unexplained crying spells
  • Irritability, anger, worry, agitation, anxiety
  • Loss of energy, complete exhaustion
  • Feelings of worthlessness or guilt
  • Inability to concentrate or indecisiveness
  • Unexplained aches and pains
  • Social withdrawal

In addition to attending a re:MIND support group you might benefit from engaging in some relaxation techniques such as deep breathing.

We know that recovery for some Houstonians will be a long road and re:MIND will be here for the next few months and years to provide support for your Mental Health.

We are proud to be part of this community.
